ABOUT KEN
ABOUT KEN
Ken’s fascination with the voice began after his first performance at the age of 12. After that, he was hooked.
The next few years Ken took part in endless choirs, theme park shows, musical theatre performances, operas, singer/songwriter nights… all while earning a vocal performance degree from the University of Tennessee. It was there that he discovered his passion for teaching, sparking his life’s work in the field.
Ken’s obsession of helping singers reach their full potential led him to work with and learn directly from some of the most prominent names in the music industry. After weekly visits to Nashville and over 100 hours of observation, Ken received his certification as a Brett Manning Associate. While Ken has worked as a full-time teacher for over a decade, he also considers himself a lifetime student and presently continues to grow his knowledge participating in the International Voice Teachers of Mix (IVTOM). With over 10,000 hours of teaching under his belt, working with singers from all over the world, Ken claims his favorite thing about teaching is that no two voices are completely alike.
When Ken’s not training his singers or staff, he spends his spare time playing racquetball, drinking cold brew, and hanging out with his awesome wife, Kirsten, and their dog, Luna.

Lessons with me are like a reverse game of Jenga – I try to find the pieces that are out of place and put them where they need to be. I often work on the very intricate subtleties of the voice (sometimes even the way a vowel is pronounced) that, once mastered, can make a huge difference. My lessons are pretty intense, but I keep the vibe light and fun.
